TRANSITIONS was born out of our family’s need to down size and make preperations to go to a senior center. With the adult children not living close by, (California, Florida, Alaska and Nebraska), the first challenge was to move the folks from the farm to the “house in town”. The second challenge came when it was time to move from the house in town to a senior care facility. After 50 years of memories built at the farm with all of the collectables, machinery, furniture, and other household items, the task was huge. Then to add the travel time and cost, this put more stress on the family than the parents. The parents wanted special items in their home, yet wanted the children to have the remainder and not be sold. This was a challenge – but we were successful in honoring their wishes.
As we were working through the tough times, we saw a need for a trustworthy service to help others that may not have the resources to make the transition for themselves. We also learned about family dynamics. Children and relatives live all over the United States and are not able to stop their busy lives and come to the house to take care of the personal property, prepare the house for sale, and then select a realtor to get the house on the market. Our company – TRANSITIONS – does all three functions. We truly are a one stop shop. Once we started this journey, we found more and more great people to help – and we love it!
